MIKE COSLTEN TO BE HONORED.

KIRKWOOD, NYThe most important night of racing is set to take place this Saturday at Five Mile Point Speedway.  The 47th running of the Heath Memorial will be a special 47 lap Modified event paying $2,500 to the race winner.  Racing gets underway at 6 p.m.

The Heath Memorial is a race to honor Five Mile Point Speedway founders Irving and Anna Heath.  The race began in 1965 after the passing of Mr. Heath and his wife Anna continued to own the speedway until 1994 when her grandson and current owner Andrew Harpell purchased the speedway.   The traditional race honors all of the members of the Heath family that have devoted so much of their life to the facility both past and present.

Long time Binghamton, NY driver Mike Colsten will be honored this Saturday night.  Colsten began his career at the speedway in the old Late Model division and moved his way up to the Modified ranks in the mid 70’s.  Colsten has over a 100 career feature victories and continues to be a winning contender anytime he is on the speedway with his Modified.  He has one Modified victory already this season, that coming at the Penn Can Speedway.

The race also honors the past and current driving stars of the speedway with the annual Former Racer’s Reunion.  All of the greats from the past and today return to the speedway for what is a very special evening for everyone involved.  The Midstate Antique Stock Car Club will take to the quarter mile with a racing exhibition.

Joining the Modifieds will be complete programs for the Sportsman, Street Stocks, IMCA Modifieds, Lightning Cats and Kiddie Cats.  The Mid State Vintage Stock Car Club will also be racing.  Race time is 6 p.m.

Kids 17 and younger will be admitted free of charge in to the grandstand area. For additional information please phone 607-775-5555 or log on to www.fivemilepointspeedway.net.  You can also find us on Facebook or email us directly at fivemilepoint1@aol.com.
