HOOSIER RACING TIRE TO BE THE OFFICIAL TIRE OF FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY IN 2004.

KIRKWOOD, NY…Hoosier Racing Tire in Lakeville, Indiana and Five Mile Point Speedway have announced their partnership for the upcoming racing season at the popular ¼ mile facility. Hoosier Racing Tire will become the official tire of Five Mile Point Speedway when the 54th annual season opener kicks off on Saturday, May 8th.

The Big Block/Small Block Modifieds will be running on a new Hoosier Tire compound specifically designed for Five Mile Point Speedway. The tire will cost Five Mile Point Speedway competitor's $135 and will be comparable to the current DIRT soft compounds run at tracks throughout the northeast. However, those tires sell for over $150 at the D.I.R.T sanctioned facilities. Five Mile Point Modified teams will have a quality tire at a discounted price.

Hoosier Racing Tire will also provide funds for an increased point fund in all classes this season. Weekly Modified teams will also be in a random drawing for a free Hoosier Tire each Saturday night at the Speedway. That alone adds up to just under $3,000 in free tire distribution among the teams. It has also been recently announced that the division will see a weekly payout increase of over $700 which adds up to over $14,000 throughout the course of the season.

The Sportsman Modified division will make its return in 2004 at the fast clay quarter mile oval. The class will be competing on a Hoosier Tire as well. The cost of the tire will be $109 for all four corners. This is a substantial price discount in comparison to other area speedways.

Pure Stock teams will not be affected by the change to Hoosier Racing Tires in 2004. Teams will still be permitted to run the same type of tires as 2003 which will now include the availability of Towel City Retreads at the speedway.

Street Stock teams will be in competition at Five Mile Point Speedway on nine different occasions in 2004. They will have the opportunity to purchase Hoosier Racing Tire compounds for only $88 apiece for those events. The pricing is nearly $20 cheaper per tire then the current pricing at other speedways in the area.

The Grand American/UMP Modified division will be running weekly at the Point in 2004 but a final tire decision has not yet been determined for the class. If the UMP sanctioning is in effect this season the teams would be on the same tire and compound as 2003.

French's Auto Parts in Binghamton, New York will be the official supplier of the Hoosier Racing Tires at the speedway this season.
