Five Mile Point Speedway Drivers Have Successful Outings in Florida SpeedWeek Races.

Stewart Friesen Crowned Week Long Dirt Modified Champion in Florida.

KIRKWOOD, NY…Defending Five Mile Point Speedway Modified Track Champion Stewart Friesen started his 2011 season in dominating fashion by winning two of the four dirt Modified tour events held at the Volusha Speedway Park in Barbersville, Florida.  Friesen was crowned the overall week long champion of the four event series.  Friesen also had finishes of second and fourth.

Friesen, from Niagara on the Lake, Ont. had a dream 2010 racing season by not only winning the Five Mile Point Speedway track title but he also earned the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour Championship, a series of ten races that took place at facilities in Pennsylvania and New York.   Friesen won at ten different facilities last season along with becoming the first southern tier driver to win the Syracuse 200 at the New York State Fairgrounds.  That event is the richest dirt Modified race in the United States.

Kevin Bates, from Lake Ariel, PA was the 2010 runner-up in the Five Mile Point Speedway Modified standings.  In his four Volusha Speedway Park appearances he placed 21st, 13th, 23rd and 19th.  Both drivers will be honored at the Binghamton River Walk Hotel on March 4th for the combined Five Mile Point Speedway and Race of Champions Award Dinner.

Five Mile Point Speedway will open the 2011 season on Sunday, April 10th as Sportsman will take center stage with a RoC Dirt Tour race. The RoC Street Stock Tour, 600 c.c. Modifieds and Four Cylinder Open will also be on the opening day card. Last year Nick Rochinski bested a stellar field of the top Sportsman teams for the victory in the RoC Sportsman event.
