2006 SEASON TO MARK FINAL YEAR OF WEEKLY STREET/PRO STOCK RACING AT FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY.

KIRKWOOD, NY..... The upcoming racing season will mark the final year of weekly Street/Pro Stock racing at Five Mile Point Speedway. The class is scheduled to compete on fourteen weekends in 2006. A full point fund will be paid out to the top ten teams once again this season. The 2007 Five Mile Point Speedway racing season will see weekly competition in the Modifieds, Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds and Pure Stock divisions.

In an effort to give the Street/Pro Stock teams as much advance notice as possible Five Mile Point Speedway management decided to make the announcement now for the 2007 racing season. "The Street/Pro Stock teams have always provided very good racing at our speedway but quite frankly the competitive cost for the teams has reached an unrealistic point," remarked Track Operator Andrew Harpell. He added, "We wanted to be upfront with our teams and give them the first opportunity to sell their equipment prior to the 2007 race season."

Harpell also stated, "We have emphasized our commitment to the IMCA Modified division since I returned to the speedway in 2004 and now with the division being sanctioned by IMCA our focus on that class is clear." To help the current Street/Pro Stock drivers make changes for 2007 the speedway is offering a free 2007 season pit pass to any of those teams that make the switch to the IMCA class.

Any Street/Pro Stock team that competes in at least 75% of the races at Five Mile Point Speedway in 2006 will receive a free pit pass for the 2007 season if they switch to the IMCA division. "This is an attempt to further show our commitment to the IMCA Modifieds while trying to help our Street/Pro Stock teams make the change if they choose," said Harpell.

In 2006 the Street/Pro Stock class will see fourteen race events scheduled including three events on the newly formed Trackside Products Super/Pro Stock Series. This series will see events at all four of the Southern Tier dirt tracks in 2006. Each participating speedway will take the division off their schedule on nights of a series race in order to work together and provide the teams an opportunity to support the series.

Five Mile Point Speedway will host the final event of the Trackside Products Super/Pro Stock Series on Saturday, October 14th as part of the National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend.

Although the division will not compete weekly in 2007 at Five Mile Point the speedway would have interest in again being involved in the Trackside Products Series. For additional information please contact the speedway offices at (607) 775-5555 or log on to www.fivemilepointspeedway.net for more.
