AMERICAN RACER SIGNS ON AS OFFICIAL TIRE OF 2005 RACE OF CHAMPIONS DIRT TOUR. FONDA SPEEDWAY “ICE JAM” TO START THE TOUR ON SATURDAY, APRIL 9TH.

BINGHAMTON, NY…The Race of Champions dirt group has signed an agreement with Lias Tire that will make American Racer tires the “official tire” of the 2005 racing campaign. The American Racer Tires will be the exclusive tire on both the Big Block/Small Block Modified and Sportsman Modified Tours.

The decision was based on a number of factors including the current number of existing facilities running the American Racer Tires. Teams would be required to run on American Racers on all tour events this season. The only exception would come at facilities currently running Hoosier Tires on their weekly Modified or Sportsman divisions. At those events approved American Racer and Hoosier Tire compounds will be permitted.

R.o.C Tour Administrative Director Andrew Harpell stated, “We are looking forward to working with the staff from Lias Tire. The decision to implement the American Racer Tire will help make costs for the tour competitors more manageable.” Harpell also remarked, “Teams will not have to purchase huge quantities of tires from different manufacturers to find out which tire would be the best.”

Competition Director Cory Reed commented, “The number of existing facilities running the American Racer Tire will certainly allow many more teams to compete on the 2005 R.o.C Dirt Tours.” He added, “Our initial response from the race teams has been extremely positive and we can’t wait to the first event at Fonda Speedway.”

Any facility that the tour stops will see their weekly American Racer compounds permitted along with an additional American Racer compound option. With the extra distance events scheduled this will certainly make for an interesting mix of drivers for the spectators. For the drivers, the “hometrack” teams won’t be required to make any changes to compete in these tour races. This should provide for large fields of teams at each tour event.

The 2005 tour schedule will be released shortly along with the dates for a companion Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman Tour. For additional information please phone Cory Reed at (315) 374-1168 or Andrew Harpell at (607) 238-0432. The official website can be found at www.rocdirt.com.
