Five Mile Point Speedway Teaming Up With Citadel Broadcasting to Add Even Greater Value for Families in 2011.  Kids 17 and Younger Will be Admitted Free Weekly at the Speedway!

KIRKWOOD, NYThe 61st consecutive year of racing at Five Mile Point Speedway gets underway with two practices on Saturday April 2nd and 9th.  This past Saturday the speedway officially wrapped up the 2010 racing season with the annual awards dinner at the Binghamton River Walk Hotel.  Over $70,000 in post season point fund money was divided among the drivers in attendance at the dinner.  At the banquet speedway owner Andrew Harpell made a major announcement that kids 17 and younger will be admitted in to the speedway free at all Saturday night events in 2011.

Citadel Broadcasting has teamed up with Five Mile Point Speedway to bring this even greater value to area race fans in 2011.  Area kids 17 years old and younger will be able to enter the grandstand area at all Saturday night events for free.  The staff at Five Mile Point Speedway has a long history of leading the way with family friendly motorsports promotions.  In the past innovative promotions like the original “Pack the Track” night ($1 grandstand admission) and original racing Family Five Pack general admission ticket package has made the speedway a favorite for area families.

Five Mile Point Speedway owner Andrew Harpell commented, “With the sluggish economy we wanted to again provide our fans with the best opportunity to see professional auto racing at a reasonable price.”  He added, “We are excited to be working with the Citadel Broadcasting Company to not only add value to our existing fans but to reach out to new and future fans of the speedway.”

The 2011 racing season will get underway on Sunday, April 10th with a Race of Champions Dirt double header event.  The RoC Sportsman and Street Stocks will be joined by the popular 600 c.c. Modifieds and a Four Cylinder division open.

Two practice sessions will be held on Saturday, April 2nd and Saturday, April 9th at the speedway.  As in previous years the speedway will allow free grandstand admission to the practices with the donation of a canned good to benefit area food pantries.

The 2011 Citadel Broadcasting Company Youth promotion will apply for all Saturday night races.  Sunday racing events and special mid-week races will not apply.
