FOR RELEASE:

THE ANNUAL HEATH MEMORIAL TO BECOME A 54 LAP SPECIAL MODIFIED EVENT THIS SEASON AT FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY. A BIG PAYOUT WILL GREET THE WEEKLY DRIVERS IN COMPETITION.

KIRKWOOD, NY…The 40th Annual Heath Memorial at Five Mile Point Speedway will serve as one of the biggest events on the schedule this season. The weekly drivers in competition will be eligible for several incentive bonuses on that night. The big block/small block Modifieds will compete in a 54 lapper paying $2,000 to win.

The Modified division will see a 54 lap feature event to represent each year that the speedway has been in operation. The race winner will earn $2,000 and possibly be eligible for other incentives. If the feature winner has perfect attendance at the speedway leading up to the event they would earn a $500 bonus. In addition lap sponsorship money will be up for grabs with each lap paying $50 to the race leader.

The Modified feature winner could earn over $5,000 for the victory in the traditional race.

Action will also be at a premium in the Sportsman, UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks. Although all of the classes will be running regular distance events they will have lap bonus money up for grabs as well. In addition if the feature winners in those classes have perfect attendance up to that point, they will be eligible for a $200 bonus.

The Heath Memorial has traditionally been called the Irv Heath Memorial event in honor of track founder Irv Heath. Last summer Mr. Heath's daughter Sandra passed away after an extended illness. She played an instrumental role in the operation of the speedway over the years including organizing and running the pit concession stand along with serving in many different capacities at the speedway. Sadly, track owner Anna Heath passed away on March 2nd. Without her work and dedication the speedway would not be in existence today. The event will now be called the Heath Memorial to honor all of the family members that made racing at the historic ¼ mile oval possible.

This years Heath Memorial will show a renewed commitment to the race teams that call Five Mile Point Speedway their weekly home. For years the Point was called "the home speedway of the southern tier" and a great commitment will be put forth once again to show support to the teams that call the ¼ mile home.
