FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES SPRINT CAR TRIPLE CROWN. THREE RACE TRAIL TO BEGIN SATURDAY, APRIL 9TH WITH PATRIOT SPRINT CAR EVENT.

KIRKWOOD, NY…Five Mile Point Speedway has put together a Triple Crown Series for the three major Sprint Car events on the 2005 schedule. The first event is slated for Saturday, April 9th with the running of the Patriot Sprint Cars. Race time is 5 p.m.

The Triple Crown Series will provide bonus money for the winning teams that participate in all three Five Mile Point Speedway Sprint Car events this season. The first race will see the Patriot Sprints doing battle on Saturday, April 9th. A big field of drivers are expected as this will be the first Sprint Car race of the season in New York State.

Five Mile Point Speedway will host an independent Sprint Car show on Thursday, August 4th. The quarter mile Sprint Car Nationals will pay a minimum $2,500 to win and will serve as round two of the Triple Crown.

The final event of the ESS point race season will take place at Five Mile Point Speedway on Friday, October 14th. This will be part of the National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend. Last year Lance Yonge wrapped up his first ESS championship by finishing second to Justin Barger at the quarter mile.

The Triple Crown Series will be unique as both the Patriot and ESS groups are hosting events. The independent show on Thursday, August 4th will see another great mix of talent making up a true Triple Crown scenario.

A $500 bonus will be offered to a driver that wins any one of the three events of the Triple Crown. If a driver should win two of the three events they would receive a $1,500 bonus and should a driver sweep the series he/she would earn a $2,500 bonus at the end. The only requirement is that bonus money will only be paid to winning drivers that compete in all three Triple Crown events.

Five Mile Point Speedway Track Operator Andrew Harpell remarked, “We really are determined to build interest in Sprint Car racing here at the speedway. At the end of last season we expanded the first and second turns by forty feet and expect it to be an even better layout for the Sprint Car teams.” He added, “The past Sprint Cars shows at the speedway have seen fantastic racing.”

Round one of the Five Mile Point Speedway Sprint Car Triple Crown is set for Saturday, April 9th with the return of the Patriot Sprints. The Sportsman and Pure Stocks will also be in competition with race time set for 5 p.m. For more please phone the speedway offices at (607) 775-5555 or log on to www.fivemilepointspeedway.net.
