FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY DROPS UMP SANCTION FOR 2005 RACING SEASON. DIVISION TO COMPETE UNDER I.M.C.A RULES FOR 2005. SPEEDWAY TO HOST FINAL LIAS TIRE EMPIRE STATE SERIES EVENT FOR I.M.C.A MODIFIEDS IN OCTOBER.

KIRKWOOD, NY…Five Mile Point Speedway management has decided to drop its UMP Modified sanction for the 2005 racing season. The class will adopt I.M.C.A rules for weekly competition. The division will now be called FMP Modifieds on a weekly basis. Five Mile Point Speedway will now also be the site of the final Lias Tire Empire State Series event for I.M.C.A Modifieds on October 15th.

The decision to adopt I.M.C.A rules will allow many more teams to compete at Five Mile Point Speedway this season without having to purchase different tires. For the weekly teams they will have several weeks before having to make those rule changes.

The Southern Tier Open event for the UMP/I.M.C.A cars will go on as scheduled on Sunday, April 17th. The teams will be allowed to run their old UMP tires until Saturday, May 21st. On May 21st the division will adopt full I.M.C.A rules with this event serving as the first point race of the season.

Five Mile Point Speedway will now also host the final event of the 2005 Lias Tire Empire State Series for I.M.C.A Modifieds on Saturday, October 15th. Full I.M.C.A rules will also be run on that day as well.

While the speedway will not fall under the official I.M.C.A banner for the upcoming season the adoption of the organizations rules will allow for many more teams to compete at the quarter mile oval. The Five Mile Point Speedway weekly teams will now not be required to make dramatic changes in order to support other regional I.M.C.A races.
