BOUNTY TO BE PLACED ON STEWART FRIESEN WITH VICTORY THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 2ND AT FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY.  $1,000 BONUS WOULD BE IN PLACE.

KIRKWOOD, NYStewart Friesen has been on a tear at Five Mile Point Speedway since late in the 2006 race season.  In 2007 Friesen has started off strong with three victories at the quarter mile.  Should Friesen garner the win this Saturday, June 2nd at the Point a $1,000 bounty will be put into place for the following two Saturday night events.  The month of June already has two $2,000 to win events for the Modifieds schedule and a victory on Saturday for Friesen would guarantee a third $2,000 to win event in the month.

Should Friesen get the job done again this Saturday the bounty would go in place on Saturday, June 9th.  If anyone but Friesen wins on that night (June 9th) the 30 lap victory would pay $2,000.   Friesen would only need to win on Saturday, June 9th and Saturday, June 16th to collect the bounty himself.  Of course several ground rules would be put in place to ensure both safety along with a fair and competitive race.  Those will be spelled out clearly should the bounty be placed this Saturday.  Any driver with a bounty placed on them at the Point would have to finish the race for it to be collected.  This helps to prevent a driver from driving over aggressively in pursuit of the cash.

The last bounty that was placed at the speedway was on Defending Five Mile Point Speedway Pure Stock Track Champion Charlie Gilbert.  That bounty was placed on him early in the 2006 racing campaign.  Gilbert wasted no time as he collected the cash bonus himself.

At a time where a number of tracks are cutting purses Five Mile Point Speedway continues to offer up some big dollars for short distance races on the quarter mile.  On Wednesday, June 13th the STAR Series will return to the speedway for a 50 lapper that will pay $2,000 to the winner.  The R.o.C Dart Dirt Sportsman teams will also be in competition for a 40 lap North region event on that night.  The R.o.C Dart Dirt Sportsman Series has also gone through a purse increase in 2007.

Saturday, June 30th will be the 43rd running of the Heath Memorial.  The prestigious event will serve as a STAR Series race that pays a minimum of $2,000 to the winner.  A number of bonuses will be up for grabs as well on a night that pays tribute to the speedway founders Anna and Irving Heath.

Again this season the Point will host three Race of Champions Dart Dirt Modified Tour events.  Each of these races will pay a minimum of $4,000 to win.  Considering the lack of motor stress the quick quarter mile causes, these will once again be events circled on all of the top team’s calendars.

The much anticipated Dart Dirt Modified All Star Race is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28th at Five Mile Point Speedway.  This event will pay a minimum of $700 to take the green for 50 laps of racing.  All of the top northeast Modified chauffeurs will be in attendance in the last big race prior to the fall season ending specials.  Fan voting ballots for the All-Star event will be available in upcoming editions of Area Auto Racing News and Gater Racing News.

This Saturday Five Mile Point Speedway will be the place to be for a big program of racing action.  The Modifieds, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, IMCA Modifieds, Lightning Cats and A League of Their Own will be joined by the 99.1 the WHALE Figure 8’s.   This Saturday is also another one of the fan friendly 98.1 the HAWK Family Five Pack events.  Race time is 6 p.m. this Saturday night.  Get to the Point to see if the bounty will be put out on Friesen.  For more information please contact the speedway offices at (607) 775-5555 or log on to www.fivemilepointspeedway.net for more.
