KIRKWOOD, NY…The staff at Five Mile Point Speedway has been busy preparing for the Southern Tier Open Patriot Sprint Car show scheduled for Saturday, April 16th. A bonus plan has been put in place for the participating URC and ESS teams that enter the event. This plan will be in addition to the recently announced Sprint Car Triple Crown. Race time on Saturday, April 16th is 5 p.m.

The season opening Patriot Sprint Car Southern Tier Open will be open to all northeast Sprint Car teams. With this event serving as the Patriot Sprint Car season opener it will be a non-handicapped event. This will allow teams from outside of the organization an opportunity to start upfront in the 25 lap event.

For teams that normally compete with URC or ESS a special bonus plan will be in place on April 16th. The first URC and ESS teams in the final running order will each receive a $200 bonus at the end of the day. The determination of who qualifies for the bonus will be based on final 2004 points in each of those organizations.

This bonus will be in addition to the recently announced Five Mile Point Speedway Triple Crown Series for Sprint Cars. Those races will include the opener on April 16th along with the quarter mile Sprint Car Nationals on Thursday, August 4th and the National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend event on Friday, October 14th.

For the Sprint Car teams the Southern Tier Open will serve as round one of the Five Mile Point Speedway Triple Crown for the division. A $500 bonus will be offered to a driver that wins any one of the three events of the Triple Crown. If a driver should win two of the three events they would receive a $1,500 bonus and should a driver sweep the series he/she would earn a $2,500 bonus at the end. The only requirement is that bonus money will only be paid to winning drivers that compete in all three Triple Crown events.

Five Mile Point Speedway will be set to go green with the 55th consecutive season on April 16th with the running of the Southern Tier Open for Sprint Cars, Sportsman and Pure Stocks. The following day will see round two of the Southern Tier Open with a 50 lapper for big block/small block Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinder Stocks and IMCA type Modifieds.
