KIRKWOOD, NY -
Lap sponsorships for the running of the 42nd Heath Memorial are now available through the Five Mile Point Speedway offices. The prestigious event will be held on Saturday, June 24th and will be highlighted by a 50 lap Modified feature paying $2,000 to win.
Lap sponsorships are a great way for a business or even for a fan to get their name out in public. Business names, good luck wishes for drivers can be listed on the lap sponsorship. The entire list of sponsors will be read over the public address system and listed on the official Five Mile Point Speedway website at www.fivemilepointspeedway.net. All of the money raised is given to the driver that leads your sponsored lap.
The cost to sponsor a lap in the Modified 50 lap feature is only $20. Lap sponsorships in the Sportsman, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and IMCA Modified classes are only $10. Anyone that wants to add money to their lap is certainly allowed to as again all the money goes directly to the drivers.
An additional bonus is put up each year by speedway management if the race winners have perfect attendance leading up to the event. The Modified winner would earn an extra $250 with the winners of the Sportsman, Street Stock, Pure Stock and IMCA Modifieds earning an extra $100.
Last year Gary Griffin recorded his first ever Five Mile Point Speedway Modified win in capturing the Heath Memorial victory. He was chased across the line by Gary Hildebrandt, J.R. Crouse, Alan Rudalavage and Jim Crawn.
The Sportsman race winner was Eric Palmer with Bill Trego notching the Street Stock victory, Mike Stolarcyk III won the IMCA Modified class and Mahlon Shoemaker scoring the honors in the Pure Stocks.
The Heath Memorial is a tribute to speedway founder and builder Irving Heath and his wife Anna. Each year fans return from all over the country to be a part of this prestigious event.
Joining the weekly classes this year on June 24th will be the Mid State Vintage Racing Club. These cars from the past will certainly bring back a lot of memories for fans in attendance. The annual Former Racer's Reunion will also take place again this year.
