FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY TRACK IMPROVEMENTS CONTINUE ENTERING SOUTHERN TIER OPEN EVENT.

KIRKWOOD, NY…Track improvements have continued at Five Mile Point Speedway as track management prepares for this Saturday’s Southern Tier Open. Race time this Saturday is set for 3:30 p.m.

Track crews have been busy since the conclusion of the Southern Tier 100 held back on Sunday, October 17th. Work has continued on the outside of turns 1 and 2 as more expansion is taking place in that area. Additional truck loads of fill have already been brought in to widen the turns. Tons of new clay is being brought in early this week to allow for the continued banking of the turn 2 area.

Portions of the homestretch wall have already been removed so that crews can replace broken sections prior to next season. Crews will also lower the dirt embankment on top of the homestretch wall to allow for better spectator visibility. Concrete blocks will be put in place for this Saturdays Southern Tier Open along the homestretch racing area.

A long plan of work projects are currently in motion with many more expected to be completed in the weeks and months to come. All of this preparation is leading up to big plans for the 2005 racing season at the famed quarter mile oval.

For additional information on any of the ongoing work projects or this Saturdays Southern Tier Open, please phone the speedway offices at (607) 775-5555 or log on to www.fivemilepointspeedway.net.
