B&D EXHAUST SIGNS ON TO PRESENT THE PURE STOCK CHALLENGE EVERY SATURDAY AT FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY

KIRKWOOD, NY…Five Mile Point Speedway Promoter Dan Harpell and B&D Exhaust President Don Lane announced a sponsorship agreement on Tuesday that directly benefits the Pure Stock competitors at the Point. The B&D Exhaust Pure Stock Challenge will take place at every race in 2003 at the Point.

Each week a $50 bonus is on the line if a driver can win his heat and then win the feature in the same night. If nobody wins, another $50 is added to the pot. It will progress each week until a driver wins both his heat race and the feature in the same night.

Once the task is accomplished, it starts over again at a $50 bonus. The B&D Exhaust Pure Stock Challenge will be contested every Saturday night.

The idea for the B&D Exhaust Pure Stock Challenge came from Don and Bob Lane from B&D Exhaust. They are tire distributors for the Pure Stock division in the Southern Tier. "We wanted to come up with a way to give back to the racers that have supported us for so long", said Don Lane. "Five Mile Point is like home to me and I enjoy being a part of things there", Lane added. Bob Lane is a former Pure Stock Champion and is currently competing in the Sportsman division.

"We are real excited about the B&D Exhaust Pure Stock Challenge", said Promoter Dan Harpell. "The Lanes have been big supporters of ours for years and they have always looked out for the Pure Stock guys. It’s nice to see their support going out to the guys in the Pure Stock division. It’s where a lot of today’s top drivers got their start", he added.

The B&D Exhaust Pure Stock Challenge will officially begin on Saturday, April 19th when Five Mile Point Speedway opens for the 2003 season with Spring Championship Night. The Pure Stocks are joined in the show by the 358 Modifieds, Street Stocks and UMP Modifieds. Race time is set for 6:15 p.m.

Drivers will have the opportunity to try out the new clay surface on practice day. The practice will take place on Saturday, April 12th at 5:00 p.m. and is open to any division of cars that will be competing at the Point in 2003.

Five Mile Point Speedway is located at the intersection of routes 17 and 81 in Kirkwood, New York. For further information, please call the speedway office at 607-775-5555 or log onto our website at www.fivemilepointspeedway.net.
