Five Mile Point Speedway 62nd Season Opener – Take 2 – This Saturday, April 7th.

 

KIRKWOOD, NY…As the saying goes, “If at first you don’t succeed try, try again.”  The staff and race teams at Five Mile Point Speedway will do exactly that this Saturday, April 7th as they will try for the second time to get the 62nd year of racing underway.  Last Sunday’s scheduled events were rained out.  This Saturday the racing will begin at 4 p.m.

 

This Saturday will feature the Sportsman teams in a 40 lap event paying a minimum of $1,500 to win.  The event will be run by Race of Champions rules but will not award Race of Champions points due to scheduling conflicts for several of the tour teams.  The Race of Champions Street Stocks will be in competition with their tour opener paying $400 to win.

 

The popular and ever growing IMCA Modified division has been added to the program of racing this Saturday.  They will compete in a non-point event that will pay $350 to win.  The race will be a great opportunity for many of the invading teams to get valuable track time prior to the huge Empire State IMCA Modified Touring Series race scheduled for Sunday, April 22nd.

 

Also on the program this Saturday will be the Lightning Cat Open for 4 cylinder teams and the Tommy Boy 20 for Factory Stocks.

 

The originally scheduled practice and testing day for Saturday was moved to this Friday evening beginning at 5:30 p.m.  Pit gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with pit admission being $20.  Grandstand admission on Friday is free with the donation of a non-perishable food item to benefit CHOW.

 

On Saturday, pit gates will open at 1 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 2 p.m.  Pre race warmups will begin at 3:15 p.m. with racing set to begin at 4:00 p.m.

Saturday Pricing:  Adults:  $14  - Seniors (62 and older):  $12 – Youth (8-13): $5 – Kids 12 and younger Free!  Family Five Pack - $35 includes 5 tickets, 5 hot dogs and 5 soda’s.

Saturday Gate Times:  Pit gates open:  1 p.m. Grandstand Gates open:  2 p.m.  Practice: 3:15 p.m.  Racing:  4:00 p.m.
