KIRKWOOD, NYÖMother Nature did something the Modifieds havenít done in 2003 at Five Mile Point Speedway. She became a repeat winner. All day rains on Saturday forced the second cancellation of the year.

The story of the year so far at the Point has been how close the competition has been. The 358 Modifieds have had four different winners in as many weeks. What is even more interesting is that none of the wins have gone to Mitch Gibbs, who tied a track record with 13 victories last season.

Dana Wagner was the opening night winner, his first at the track. Mike Clapperton won on week two with veteran Glenn Knapp taking the week three win. Bobby Puckett picked up his first win anywhere in three years on week four. It was his first win at the Point since 1997.

While Gibbs hasnít visited victory lane yet, he still sits atop the point standings. You can be sure that Gibbs will find his way to victory lane before too long.

While the Modifieds have had four different winners, the Street Stocks have been dominated by James Cornell thus far. Cornell has notched three wins in four tries with Tracy Gregory being the only other winner to date.

The UMP Modifieds have seen Gary Dence come out of a 12 year retirement from racing to score back to back wins in weeks three and four. Joel Batzel and Jeff Cleveland have also captured wins in 2003.

The Pure Stocks find Mahlon Shoemaker on top of the standings, which is where he left off in 2002. Shoemaker was the opening night winner with Charlie Gilbert taking two wins and Bryan Lindsey also notching a win.

Get to the Point this Saturday to find out if the 358 Modifieds can continue to have non repeat winners. They are joined by a full show of Street Stocks, UMP Modifieds and Pure Stocks. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. and race time is 6:15 p.m.
