FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY TO CELEBRATE 53 YEARS OF RACING ON TUESDAY, JULY 22 WITH 358 MODIFIEDS AND STREET STOCKS

KIRKWOOD, NY…Five Mile Point Speedway will celebrate 53 years of racing on Tuesday, July 22nd at 7:15 p.m. The 53rd Anniversary Special for 358 Modifieds will be joined by a Street Stock special.

The 358 Modifieds will go to battle for 53 laps with $2,500 on the line for the winner. A starting spot in the VICTORIA 200 All Star Race will also be given to the winner. Expect a strong field of cars to compete in the only midweek special of the year at the Point.

Five Mile Point 358 Modified rules follow those of the DIRT circuit. Tires are open to the American Racer McMod that the track runs weekly or the DIRT Soft Hoosier.

Last year Mitch Gibbs took home top honors over Mike Clapperton, Jeff Rudalavage, Glenn Knapp and Alan Johnson. Expect a strong contingent of invaders as they take on the best that the Point has to offer.

James Cornell is the defending champion of the Street Stock portion of the show. The Street Stocks will run 25 laps for $700 to win. Rules follow those of all of the local tracks.

Cornell will be the man to beat again this year. He has won seven of eight features thus far in 2003 at the Point. The Street Stock winner will receive a guaranteed starting spot in the Street Stock portion of the Race Of Champions in September at Oswego Speedway.

Make it a point to "Get to the Point" on Tuesday, July 22nd for the running of the 53rd Anniversary Special for 358 Modifieds and Street Stocks. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with Hot Laps at 6:00 p.m. and race time slated for 7:15 p.m.
