KIRKWOOD, NY…Five Mile Point Speedway will celebrate 53 years of racing on Tuesday, August 26th. The 53rd Anniversary Special will feature a 53 lap feature, paying $2,500 to win for 358 Modifieds. They will be joined by the Street Stocks, who will be racing for $700 to win. The show will get the green flag at 7:15 p.m.

This race was originally scheduled for Tuesday, July 22nd but rain washed out the entire show, forcing the track to reschedule. The race will put the top drivers in the Southern Tier up against a strong field of invaders for the $2,500 top prize.

DIRT 358 Modified rules are in effect for this race. The only difference is a choice of tires. The track follows DIRT rules all year with the exception of tires. Five Mile Point Speedway runs American Racer tires. The McMod American Racer soft compound is the weekly tire however DIRT soft Hoosiers are legal for this event as well as the season ending Southern Tier 100 and Southern Tier Open races.

All other rules follow the DIRT guidelines. Radios will not be allowed. If you have any questions on rules for this event, please call the speedway office or look at the rules on our website at

The Street Stocks will also be in competition in a 25 lap feature, paying $700 to win. If you are legal at any of the area tracks, you are legal for this event. The rules follow closely to the North/South Series. Any questions should be directed to the speedway office at 607-775-5555.

Last year Mitch Gibbs notched one of his 13 feature wins in this event. The local drivers showed their strength and will look to do so again this year. Because of the central location of the track, the big specials at the Point always draw a very diverse field of cars. DIRT, CVRA, Pennsy Small Blocks and more are expected to invade the Point for a shot at the lions share of the purse.

Street Stock racing at Five Mile Point is among the best in the northeast and this show will certainly highlight how exciting these guys are. With $700 on the line to win, expect another strong field of invaders on hand to take on the local stars. James Cornell is the defending race winner and he has already notched nine wins in 11 races this year. Cornell will be the man to beat on this night.

Make your plans now for an exciting night of racing. It's the 53rd Anniversay Special on Tuesday, August 26th. See the 358 Modifieds and Street Stocks in a great night of racing.
