STEWART FRIESEN WINS SECOND CONSECUTIVE FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY MODIFIED FEATURE. OTHER WINNERS INCLUDE BRAD GRIM(SPORTSMAN), BRAD WEAVER(IMCA MODIFIED), DAREN STOUT(STREET STOCK), DOUG STACK (PURE STOCK), DYLAN CISNAY (600 C.C. MODIFIEDS).

KIRKWOOD, NY - Three repeat winners made their way into Five Mile Point Speedway victory lane on Saturday night. Stewart Friesen was the Modified winner for the second straight week and it was his second career FMP victory as well. The same held true for IMCA victor Brad Weaver as he recorded career win number two and his second in a row. Street Stock winner Doug Stack made it two in a row as well with Daren Stout winning his first Street Stock feature and Brad Grim collecting the honors in the Sportsman main. Dylan Cisnay won the 600 c.c. Modified feature.

Chris Ostrowsky took the early lead in the thirty lap Modified feature but it would be short lived as Darin Schuler made his past on the top on lap three. Schuler would remain on the top of the speedway as Glenn Knapp, Joel Batzel and Stewart Friesen battle for second place. Schuler remained out front as the race reached the midway point but no Mitch Gibbs had broken into the top five as things really began to heat up. A caution on lap twenty-one bunched up the field with now Friesen and Gibbs in tow on Schuler.

On the restart the top three immediately went three wide with Friesen on the bottom, Gibbs running the middle and Shuler on the outside. The battle continued to the delight of the fans as Friesen managed to take command with Gibbs following him into second. Friesen was able to open his lead over the remaining five laps as Gibbs ran in second. At the finish it would be Friesen collecting his second consecutive victory with Gibbs second. Batzel completed a strong drive to wind up third followed by ninth place starter Brian Malcolm and tenth place starter Mike Doty.

Jamie Cortazar led the early stages of the twenty lap Sportsman Modified feature on Saturday night. Brad Grim didn’t waste much time as he hustled from his fifth starting position into the lead on lap five. Grim would go on to lead the remainder of the way to record his third victory of the season. Jesse Kline finished second followed by Justin Holland, Ladd Yeomans and Chris Wood.

Brad Weaver led from start to finish in the twenty lap IMCA Modified feature event. For Weaver it was his second consecutive win and second career victory. Gary Roberts finished in second place in only his second night in the division. Joe Cole wound up third with Mike Stolaryck, III and K.C. Cole completing the top five.

Daren Stout took command of the lead from his outside front row starting spot at the drop of the green in the twenty lap Street Stock main event. Stout quickly pulled away from second place runner J.J. Millard. Stout would go on to lead the entire distance and notch his first victory of the season. Jerry Tonti wound up second followed by Les Gillette, Henry Cook Jr. and Joe Krisovich.

Matt Spencer took the initial lead in the twenty lap Pure Stock main event but it wouldn’t take Jeremy Shaw long to move past. Shaw took over the point on lap two and looked strong. Meanwhile Doug Stack was beginning to advance from his eighth starting spot. Stack made his winning pass on lap twelve and would hang on for the second straight week. Shaw wound up second followed by Charlie Gilbert, Spencer and Jon Carpenter.

Dylan Cisnay held off Bruce Kindberg for the win in the 600 c.c. Modified feature. Tom Martucci, Craig Burgmeyer and Nick Mady completed the top five.

This Wednesday night NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Ken Schrader will be racing in the Race of Champions Modified Tour 75. The race will be the R.o.C Tour south region finale. Schrader will be behind the wheel of the Modified that Stewart Friesen has driven to victory lane the past two Saturday nights. The BRC Late Model Tour will also be in competition with race time set for 7:30 p.m.
