KIRKWOOD, NY…Jim Crawn captured his second 358 Modified win of the year Saturday on Stolarcyk Chevrolet Night at Five Mile Point Speedway. James Cornell, Jeff Cleveland and Charlie Gilbert were also victorious at the quarter mile oval.

Billy Thornton raced into the lead at the drop of the green flag of the 358 Modified. Thornton opened a comfortable margin while Jim Crawn quickly moved to the front from his 10th starting spot. Crawn took just eight laps to advance to second and then went to work on Thornton for the lead.

Crawn was hooked up on the high side of the track and tracked down Thornton. He took the lead on lap 11 and ran away and hid. As the race went caution free for 15 laps, Mike Ricci was working his way to the front from 16th.

Ricci cracked the top five by the midway point of the race and tried to chase down the leaders. He moved into third with five laps to go and closed in on Thornton for second.

Crawn had checked out and romped to his second win of the season. Ricci edged Thornton in a photo finish for second. Mike Decker and Rich Keehle rounded out the top five. Sixth through tenth went to Glenn Knapp, Brian Malcolm, J.R. Crouse, Dave Doig and Don Hart, Jr.

James Cornell continued his domination of the Street Stock division by capturing his seventh win of the season. He battled early with Ken Sparks, Jr. and then held off Brett Spoor in the closing laps for the win.

Spoor was second ahead of Ken Taugher, Jason Schlafer and Rob Harder. Rounding out the top ten were Sparks, Dan Pompey, Bob Teribury, Brian MacRabie and Jerry Tonti.

Jeff Cleveland scored his second win of the season in the UMP Modified feature. Cleveland was chased throughout by Joe Price, who would settle for second.

Gary Dence was third ahead of Joel Batzel and Kevin Cole. Sixth through tenth went to Joe Cole, Ralph Shoemaker, Jr., Brad Shaffer, Mike Stolarcyk III and Joe Novak.

The Pure Stock feature was the race of the night. Charlie Gilbert was in search of the $250 B&D Exhaust Pure Stock bonus for winning his heat and then the feature on the same night. Gilbert would take the lead on lap ten with Shane Wolf hot on his heels.

Wolf took the lead from Gilbert on lap 14 but Gilbert didn’t give up. Gilbert charged back ahead with two laps to go to take the lead and go onto the $400 win. Wolf was second ahead of Bryan Lindsey, Mark Aldrich and Mike Lartz. Sixth through tenth went to Brett Barrett, Mark Andrus, Jeremy Shaw, Mahlon Shoemaker and Jim Ortiz.
