KIRKWOOD, NY…Rain was the big winner on Saturday at Five Mile Point Speedway as B&D Exhaust Night was washed out. The point titles will all be decided this Saturday on Fuccillo Ford Season Championship Night, highlighted by a 50 lapper for the 358 Modifieds and extra dollar races for all of the five divisions. Race time is 6:30 p.m.
The Modifieds will run 50 laps for $1,500 to win, while the Street Stocks will go 25 laps for $400 to win. The Grand American Modifieds will run 20 laps for $300 to win and the Pure Stocks will go 20 laps for $200 to win. The Pure Stocks will also be vying for the B&D Exhaust $100 bonus if you can win your heat and feature in the same night.
While Mitch Gibbs has locked up the 358 Modified title, there is still plenty up for grabs in all divisions. The Street Stock, Grand American Modified and Pure Stock Track Championships are very close and the Figure 8’s are also still undecided. Only 29 points separate second and sixth in the Modified standings. Dana Wagner is currently second ahead of Don Hart, Jr., Glenn Knapp, Jr., Rich Keehle, Jr. and Harry Marvin, Jr.
Brett Spoor currently leads the Street Stock standings by just two markers over Ken Sparks, Jr. It’s as simple as which driver finishes higher in this Saturday’s feature to determine the title.
The Grand American Modifieds are even closer than that. Bob Chapman and Mike Stoddard are tied for first with Jeff Cleveland just six points back in third. That title is totally up for grabs.
Mahlon Shoemaker went into the last Pure Stock feature one point out of the lead behind Randy Percival. He came out of the night with a 29 point lead. The title will come down to these two drivers on Saturday.
Brian Garvey holds a 28 point lead over Steve Dechow in the Figure 8’s. Those are the only two drivers in the hunt for their title.
The table is set for a tremendous night of racing on Fuccillo Ford Season Championship Night. Fuccillo’s, located in Hallstead, Pennsylvania, provides the track with its Official Safety Truck.
Pit and grandstand gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and racing begins at 6:30 p.m. Be sure to be there when the 2002 Track Champions are crowned. Five Mile Point Speedway is located at the intersection of routes 17 and 81 in Kirkwood, New York.
