2009 TIRE RULES

French’s Auto Parts is the official tire supplier for Five Mile Point Speedway.  French’s Auto Parts can be reached at (607) 774-4500.  Tires may be purchased anywhere but in order to be eligible for point fund money tires must come from French’s Auto Parts as they are a point fund contributor for the Modified, Sportsman and Pure Stock racing divisions.  French’s will provide a list to the speedway prior to the season ending awards dinner.

 

Modifieds:      American Racer 92/13 SD 48 right rear compound optional 50 compound ok.

                        American Racer 87/13 SD 44 left rear compound optional 48 allowed to match up with 50.

                        American Racer 85/11 SD 33 right front compound or harder.

                        American Racer 84/11 SD 33 left front compound or harder.

           

REAR TIRE PRESSURE RULE: Left rear minimum 7 lbs. Right rear minimum 10 lbs.  No tire softener or liquids of any kind is allowed inside or outside of the tires. Heating the tires by torch, blankets or exhaust system is not allowed. No type of inner liner allowed. Durometer readings may be taken periodically.  NO TRACTION CONTROL DEVICES ALLOWED.

Sportsman:     American Racer 92/13 SD 48 right rear compound optional 50 compound ok.

                        American Racer 87/13 SD 44 left rear compound optional 48 allowed to match up with 50.

                        American Racer 85/11 SD 33 right front compound or harder.

                        American Racer 84/11 SD 33 left front compound or harder.

Pure Stocks:  Maximum 8” wide tires, DOT approved tires only.  May use racing recaps if on DOT casing.  Grooving, buffing and siping allowed.  NO softening                      of tires.  May run Diamond back retreads but must be street legal tread design with D.O.T stamp.  Square block tread racing design not legal or               allowed.  Towel City 66A Red Emblem allowed.  Towel City plain 66 is optional on right rear.  American Racer size 70/245 x 15 is preferred tire.

 

Figure 8 Class:  D.O.T approved passenger car tires.  No snows, Hoosiers, McCreary, M&H, Goodyear, Towel City, Diamond Backs or any other racing type tires allowed.  8” wheel maximum, no special offsets.  Double center type race car wheels allowed.  1” lug nuts allowed.

Lightning Cats:  Tires and wheels must be stock size for the model of the car.  All four corners must be same size.  No racing tires or recaps.
